It’s a bad thing when you allow others to control your life. At times, you won’t even be aware of it. When you are doing without necessities to please others, you are allowing others to control your life. If you are afraid to voice your opinions because you don’t want to cause someone to look at you differently, you are allowing others to control your life. If you are easily swayed into behaving the way someone else wants you to behave, you are allowing others to control your life. If you are stressed out doing something in a way someone wants you to do it, you are allowing others to control your life. Your life is YOUR life. If you are operating in a manner where you are physically and emotionally drained trying to please others, you may as well hand your life over to them because they are operating it. In this life, you will come across some selfish people who suffer from narcissism. These people want you to do things their way. If you don’t, they talk about you or make you feel inferior. They want you to dance to the sound of their music. They could care less if you are stressed out by doing so. Don’t allow such people to control your life. And if you are in this boat now, take your paddle and you row your OWN boat! Allowing others to row your boat will have you sinking in no time. Many will cause you to fall off of the boat and have you sinking about to drown. And others probably will help save you, only because you are a benefit to them in some sort of way. Don’t be fooled.
When it comes to your life, allow God to be in control. You will have no worries with Him. In Rick Warren’s devotional, Let Go, And Know God Is in Control, he states, “Every day, you have to decide who’s going to be in control of your life – you or God.” This is true. So true. You do have to decide who will be in control of your life. You will come out better allowing God to control it. If you control it, you may give your control over to someone else. Giving control to someone else is like allowing someone to drive your car without any experience or even a driver’s license – they are bound to wreck it! God is a LIFE OPERATOR. After all, He is The One who gives you life so surely He knows how to control it. There will be things that transpire in your life that you nor anyone else on earth can handle; the only one who can handle it is God. Give Him total control of your life. “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken” Psalm 55:22 (NIV). Be Blessed. – S.L.M.
