Yesterday (February 14), many celebrated their love. And that is a great thing. But what about the other 364 days of the year? Has love been shown in those days as well? In the bad times as well as the good times? Have you shown love to those other than your significant ones? These are questions that sometimes go unanswered because many of us know that we fail to do so. Valentine’s Day comes around and many of us go all out. After it is over, we are back to our hateful and bitter ways. Candy is eaten, teddy bears go in the closet, balloons begin to deflate and roses begin to die along with the love that we claim to have. Even engagement rings sometimes lose their meaning and are eventually thrown back into the hands of the giver. How sad. If Valentine’s Day is a day of love then we need to make every day Valentine’s Day not just on one day. If Valentine’s Day is a day of love, we should carry Valentine’s Day in our hearts every day no just on one day. If we are going all out on one day, maybe should go all out in love on every day…..all 365 days of the year. Valentine’s Day should not only be shown towards significant others but to everyone you come in contact with, if possible. Proverbs 3: 3-4 (NIV) tells us, “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” Be Encouraged. – S.L.M.
