We all have a past…all of us. And for many, it wasn’t a good one. Yes, we know we shouldn’t look back but at times you may tend to take a glimpse…only to see how far you have come. But only allow it to be a glimpse. There is a reason why your past didn’t make it to your present but it did make you become the person you are in the present (hopefully it’s a better you). Be mindful, too, of the things and people that entice you to go back. Be mindful of the tactics that may play on your emotions, make you feel guilty or make you feel that you are missing out. After all, time proved that you did make mistakes and choose bad decisions. So why go back? Why be enticed? When you recognize your mistakes of the past, accept them. Forgive yourself and move on to better things. If your resources to make it better is slim to none, look to God and mix it with faith. Let go of the baggage of the past. It will do nothing but weigh you down in the present. The past can do two things: tear down your future or build your future up. Which will you choose? -S.L.M.
