When our character is out of line and we refuse to listen to what God is trying to tell us, I feel that He sends people into our lives to reveal that “ugliness” to us. These people are not meant for bad but for the good. When these individuals are sent by God, we will know. These people possess some ugly characters themselves. And we dislike it! We are not pleased. We complain about them constantly. These people say hurtful things and do terrible things and at the same time, we do them, too! Yet we won’t to talk about them but don’t want anyone to talk about us. What is happening is that God is showing us a COPY of ourselves. This is what we look like! Once we see ourselves, the eagerness to change should be set into place. I had to do this. The change was difficult but I made it through. If we are trying to walk the right path in life, possessing an ugly character is beneath what God wants us to bring along. Our character should reflect God. We should show great character on the best days as well as the worst days. No, we are not perfect but the least we could do is do everything in our power to possess a great character. After all, we never know who is watching us. We never know who is truly inspired by what we say and we do. –S.L.M.
Colossians 3:12-15 – “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”
