Have you ever been in a situation where you have might have the tiniest mistake only to have it broadcasted? Did it feel like you were the only one in the world who had ever made a mistake? I have been there so many times. I can’t even begin to number the times. Some people put in the spotlight to embarrass you. Let me take that back….MANY people will put you in the spotlight to embarrass you. They will exploit you until they feel the mistake is out of season. Then you have the few who tell you about the mistake in private, offer ways to correct it (if it can be corrected) and also extend their helping hand to help you correct it. These are the individuals who possess a Christ-like character. When we tell our mistakes to Jesus, He doesn’t exploit us but instead, He listens and guides us to corrections. Jesus instills in us the correct way of doing things so that the same mistake will not be repeated. If our mistakes cause sadness, Jesus offers us comfort. There are individuals who possess a character like Jesus. These are the vessels in life that helps us to succeed. But we must stand aware of the ship wreckers as well. When someone confronts us with a mistake, just give a “Christ-like” response and seek Heavenly guidance. Stand firm in maturity and wisdom so that mockery has no opportunity to set in. We all make mistakes. We are expected to learn from them and move on. Don’t allow anyone to turn your mistakes into something that will rob you of joy and peace.
Proverbs 24:16 (NIV) “for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again…”
