We love the Lord…yes, we do…but do we fear Him? Are we aware of how powerful the Lord really is? Are we aware of the great things that He can do? Are we aware of the punishment He gives when we sin? Do we truly fear the Lord? We should be so in tune with doing right until we become afraid of doing wrong. We should be afraid of the consequences we will face when doing wrong. We should not want to stand face to face with God’s wrath. He wants us to be faithful in our walk. This means obeying Him when He speaks. I think of the story in Genesis 22, where Abraham was about to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, as an offering per God’s command. Abraham did as God told him to do but right before he was about to slaughter his only son, God stepped in and commanded Him not to. God acknowledged Abraham’s obedience and allowed him to sacrifice a ram instead.
That had to be a thin line for Abraham…..slaughtering your only son and obeying God’s command. What would we have done? That is something to think about. We must walk in obedience each day and know that God will provide. God will reward us. It may hurt in the process but we have to trust in the Lord.
Genesis 22:14 So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
