What would our lives be like if we all obeyed God’s Word? What kind of character would we possess? The story of Noah gives a true example of obedience. God instructed Noah to build an ark when it wasn’t even raining. Noah may have possessed apprehension but he did as God told him to do. If some of us had been Noah, we would have asked many questions and God, himself, would have felt as though he was on Jeopardy! The Bible describes Noah as “Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God” (Genesis 6:9 NIV). Because of his faithfulness, Noah’s received God’s favor. At that time, the world that God created had become so corrupt and it would be destroyed. God would begin again with Noah and his family. Because of the obedient life that he lived, God gave Noah specific instructions on building an ark and what to do after it was built. Noah faithfully obeyed.

We have embarked on evil and corruption again in the world we live in today. It takes much dedication to possess a character as Noah’s. He was faithful and obedient to the Lord. As a result, the Lord took care of both him and his family. We have to become like Noah and have faith in the Lord. We must have faith that He will take care of us. He will guide us to the place where we need to be in our lives. At times, it may get scary and we may feel alone but we have got to acknowledge that God is with us. He will never leave us alone. We must draw closer to Him, have faith in Him, read His Word each and every day and be obedient to His Word. We are all imperfect but thank God for His loving mercy and grace. Every day comes with different ingredients – some sweet and some bitter. As Christians, let’s do our very best to walk in obedience. We must have faith that God will take care of each and every one of us…just as He did Noah.

Genesis 6:8-9 “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord . . . Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.”
